Platanos is a picturesque village in the municipality of Kissamos, one of the largest in the prefecture of Chania.

The land between the Platanos village and the Falásarna beaches is predominantly agricultural, with around 160,000 Olive Trees of the Koroneiki variety, and greenhouses covering a total area of 1000 acres, where tomatoes and green vegetables are grown.
