Staying close
Lake Nakuru National Park lies deep in the Great Rift Valley. The park is a rhino sanctuary (both black and white) and a bird watchers’ paradise.
In Kenya, the black rhinoceros population has fallen from 18,000-20,000 in 1970 to 511 in 1987, a decline of over 97 per cent.
These ones are white rhinos, a little less endangered, and a lot less shy.
